Rolex Turn-O-Graph
The Rolex Turn-O-Graph is a member of the Datejust family. It was the first utility and sports watch with a rotating bezel.
Launched in 1953, the Turn-O-Graph (model 6202) used a A.296 movement. The innovative bezel was known at the time as a ‘time recording rim’, allowing the wearer to measure time in up to hourly intervals. Earlier models featured a ‘lollipop’ second hand and straight pencil hands for the hours and minutes. Later models were fitted with the iconic ‘Mercedes’ hands.
The original Turn-O-Graph was discontinued in the late 1960s. However, the Thunderbird, as it’s colloquially known, was reincarnated in the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s. The last incarnation of the Turn-O-Graph was released in 2006, featuring the straight pencil hands.
