Rolex Explorer

The Rolex explorer was launched in 1953 following the successful ascent of Everest. Sir John Hunt’s ascent team, whose famous participants included Edmund Hilary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, were each equipped with Oyster Perpetuals which were predecessors of the first 6098 and 6150 models. These shared the same white dial and A.296 movement which were intended for rugged expedition use.

This classic timepiece was one of the first models to be used both as a utility watch and an elegant dress timepiece. Truly a watch for any occasion, your Explorer will work equally well at sea level, or at the summit of the world’s highest mountain.
